Senator Ron Wyden, who will lead the Senate Finance Committee when Democrats gain a majority, has promised to step up investigations into banks that helped Epstein.
According to CNBC, particular attention will be paid to the decisions of Mary Erdoes, head of JPMorgan’s Asset & Wealth Management division. Wyden could summon bank executives to testify under oath next year.
The investigation has not yet been formally announced: Democrats are expected to take control of Congress early next year. In August, a report by Wyden alleged that JPMorgan, Deutsche Bank and Bank of America were late in reviewing and reporting Epstein’s suspicious transactions, which totaled more than $1.4 billion.
JPMorgan said at the time that it disagreed with the report’s findings and had been reporting suspicious transactions to the government since 2002.
