According to CoinDesk, Payward, Kraken’s parent company, is in talks with Wells Fargo about a deal to provide liquidity for cryptocurrency trading for the bank’s clients. The negotiations are ongoing and may not result in a deal; both companies declined to comment.
Wells Fargo already offers spot BTC ETFs to high-net-worth clients, has invested in Elliptic and Talos, plans to launch blockchain-based deposits, and is joining a consortium of banks developing a U.S. dollar stablecoin.
Meanwhile, Payward is also discussing a broad partnership with BNY for custody, trading, and payments. In September, Nasdaq invested $100 million in the company, and Wells Fargo served as Nasdaq’s advisor on that deal.
