The CFTC has approved the registration of Coinbase Clearing LLC, the first clearinghouse with native settlement in USDC. Now Coinbase has a full suite of regulated derivatives infrastructure in the U.S.: a broker (FCM), a derivatives exchange (DCM), and a clearing organization (DCO).
The clearinghouse will be able to settle fully collateralized futures, futures options, and swaps on a 24/7 basis. Margin products, including the upcoming launch of perpetual contracts on individual stocks, will remain with external partners for now.
