The KelpDAO (Evercrest) protocol has filed a civil lawsuit in the British Columbia court against LayerZero and its CEO, Brian Pellegrino. The reason is a hack that resulted in losses exceeding $292 million.
According to the plaintiff, the attacker compromised a LayerZero developer’s account through social engineering and then, exploiting a vulnerability in the sole verifier, gained access to KelpDAO’s rsETH infrastructure and withdrew funds.
Pellegrino called the claims baseless and stated that he would defend himself in court in Vancouver. “The lawsuit still lacks merit; I’ll meet with them and respond substantively,” he wrote on X.
