The SEC has scheduled a roundtable for September 17 dedicated to launching 24-hour stock trading. The event will be held at the regulator’s headquarters in Washington, D.C., and will be open to the public with a live stream available on the SEC’s website.
The program is divided into three segments. The first focuses on the readiness of exchanges and brokers: overnight supervision, closing price formation procedures, clearing, and investor protection. The second segment addresses infrastructure resilience, including cybersecurity, system redundancy, and staff operations during night shifts. The third segment examines the impact on liquidity, issuers, and what will be needed to transition to 24/7 trading.
The list of participants includes: Robinhood, NYSE, Nasdaq, BlackRock, Citadel Securities, Jane Street, Schwab, DTCC, Interactive Brokers, Citi, and others.
