Wyoming has migrated its stablecoin from LayerZero to Chainlink due to security concerns.

The Wyoming Stablecoin Commission has transferred the FRNT token from LayerZero to Chainlink CCIP following a security review. This is the first instance in which a U.S. government agency has publicly switched blockchain infrastructure specifically for security reasons.

The decision was made four months after the Kelp DAO bridge on LayerZero was hacked, resulting in the theft of approximately $292 million. Since then, projects totaling $15 billion have already migrated from LayerZero to Chainlink, including Kelp, Kraken, and BitGo.

In Wyoming, authorities stated that they identified issues with information disclosure and operational security at LayerZero. LayerZero responded by saying that it respects the decision and has strengthened its security approach. FRNT remains the only fully backed stablecoin issued by a U.S. state; revenue from reserves goes toward funding the state’s schools.
