Japanese company Metaplanet has announced a strategic investment in U.S.-based Super League Enterprise (Nasdaq: SLE). The company will transfer 2,100 BTC and $2.5 million to Super League Enterprise, after which it will acquire 95.7% of the ordinary shares. The deal is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026.
Upon completion of the transaction, Super League will be renamed Superplanet, and its Nasdaq ticker will be changed from SLE to SUPA. This will remain the same publicly listed company, rather than a new IPO or SPAC. The 2,100 BTC transferred will become Superplanet’s initial BTC reserve, and Metaplanet’s shares will be locked up for five years.
Through Superplanet, Metaplanet aims to gain direct access to the U.S. capital market and develop a model for issuing dollar-denominated preferred shares, raising funds to further purchase Bitcoin. After the deal closes, Metaplanet Group’s total BTC reserve is expected to reach approximately 43,000 BTC.
