Bybit has filed a lawsuit against the DPRK and the Lazarus Group over a $1.5 billion hack.

A lawsuit has been filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia against the DPRK, RGB’s intelligence agency, and the Lazarus hacking group. The exchange managed to obtain a preliminary court order freezing part of the stolen assets held by unidentified defendants.

In February 2025, the Lazarus Group stole approximately 400,000 ETH and stETH from Bybit—the largest hack in crypto history. In total, North Korean hackers have stolen $6.75 billion in cryptocurrency.

According to Chainalysis, these funds are believed to be used to finance the country’s weapons program.
