Mastercard has completed its acquisition of BVNK, an infrastructure company for stablecoins. The deal combines Mastercard’s global network with BVNK’s on-chain infrastructure to connect digital currencies with fiat money—this should help banks, fintech companies, and corporations expand their use of stablecoins and tokenized assets in cross-border payments, disbursements, settlements, and treasury operations.
According to BVNK, the integration will enable banks to offer stablecoin payment services and link customer accounts to wallets, while payment providers will be able to facilitate round-the-clock settlements with merchants. BVNK’s customers will continue working with the same teams, products, and integrations without needing to take any action on their part.
The acquisition agreement, valued at up to $1.8 billion (including $300 million in contingent payments), was signed in March. This deal followed Coinbase and BVNK’s cancellation of their own $2 billion deal in November 2025.
