Five key protocol researchers have left the Ethereum Foundation and launched Ethlabs, a non-profit R&D laboratory with the mission of making Ethereum the settlement layer of the global economy. Sponsors include Bitmine, Sharplink, and Ethereum co-founder Joe Lubin, as well as more than 50 members of the ecosystem.
Ethlabs positions itself as one of the nodes in Ethereum’s “multi-node future”—an independent organization that bridges the gap between real user needs and protocol development. Its priorities include accelerating settlements, increasing throughput, and building infrastructure for tokenized assets and stablecoins.
