- The Starknet team has introduced the STRK20 framework, which adds privacy to balances and transfers of any ERC-20 tokens using zero-knowledge proof technologies.
- STRK20 enables developers to implement private transfers, swaps, lending, staking, payments, and donations without building a separate privacy infrastructure. At the same time, the system supports special viewing keys that allow revealing only the necessary information in response to legally binding requests.
- STRK20 is not a mixer. Instead of sending funds through a separate service to obscure transaction history, privacy is built directly into the asset’s logic and can be used as a standard operating mode.
- The first major use case for this technology was the launch of strkBTC, which gained hidden balances and private BTC transfers within the Starknet ecosystem.
- The development of ZK privacy will enable regulators to conduct more targeted investigations, requesting only the necessary information instead of mass monitoring of a large number of wallets.
