The U.S. Congress has launched an investigation into possible insider trading on the prediction platforms Kalshi and Polymarket.

The chair of the House Oversight Committee has sent requests to companies demanding information on measures to prevent insider trading and suspicious user activity.

The trigger was a series of bets on political events and military actions, including transactions made ahead of U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran, as well as the case of an American military officer who earned about $400,000 betting on Venezuela.

The investigation also touches on issues related to KYC, geographic restrictions, and the international expansion of these platforms. The committee requested documents from the companies by June 5.
