Adam Back stated at Paris Blockchain Week that Bitcoin should start building quantum-resistant solutions now, even though the real threat might still be far away. "Quantum computers still have a lot to prove. Current systems are essentially laboratory experiments," Back said, adding that he has been following the field for over 25 years and progress has been gradual.
Nevertheless, he insists on preparation. Blockstream has already implemented hash-based signatures in its Liquid network. Back also noted that the Taproot protocol can support alternative signature schemes without affecting current users.
